Jorge Cruz

Director of Teen Programs

Jorge grew up in North Portland, and has focused his career on youth development. He’s worked at Self Enhancement, Inc. and most recently at Metropolitan Family Services for the past 12 years. Jorge is also currently working towards his degree in social work at PSU. He believes that in order to change the world we must educate our youth to ask questions and to think critically about their own education and opportunities.

Jorge’s passion for Equity work has led him the opportunity to educate himself further in the inequities BIPOC communities have experienced and continue to face. These opportunities have given him tools to offer and facilitate Equity focused workshops, discussions and trainings in the topics of; macroaggressions, implicit bias, restorative justice practices, school to prison pipeline theory, systemic racism, and internalized oppression, to name a few.
