Camp Namanu is on the unceded land of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. We recognize this land and the surrounding water for their significance to the first peoples, including the Molalla, Kalapuya, Chinook and Clackamas tribes. Camp Namanu offers gratitude for the 552 acres of land, for those who have stewarded it for generations, and for the opportunity to study, learn, work, and be in community in this place.
We stand in solidarity with these tribes and call on our peers in the Summer Camp & Youth Development industries to join us in continuously acknowledging the Native inhabitants of the land we are on. This community of people is still here through continuous resilience and resistance to systemic efforts to silence voices and erase history.
