Teens Program Update

An Important Update about our Teens Program

It is with a heavy heart that we share some unfortunate news regarding our Middle School and High School Teens program.  Camp Fire has been working hard over the past couple of years to reduce and eliminate a large deficit, our financial position through the end of 2024 has been uncertain. Given the latest budget projections earlier this week, we have made the very difficult decision to end our Camp Fire mentoring program at all school sites effective December 31st 2024. Staff’s last day of employment with Camp Fire will be at the end of December.

As an organization, there are several expenses that are not covered by current grants, which makes it nearly impossible to sustain programming as it currently operates, from a financial standpoint. While we have attempted to raise revenue through many different efforts, we have fallen short of the overall goal to continue Camp Fire services.

Camp Fire staff have been notified about the unfortunate news. Understandably, they are all heartbroken by the news, as are we and we know the impact this will have on youth and families. We hope to inform youth as soon as possible via a trauma informed approach, in an attempt to minimize harm.

We have truly appreciated your trust, friendship and support you provided to Camp Fire and our staff during our time here. We are grateful of the partnerships and the opportunities we had to work alongside the students. We understand that the timing of this news makes all this more stressful and we apologize for this. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

Thank you for all the support you have given Camp Fire over the years, we are forever grateful.

Thank you,

Jorge Cruz
