We’re counting down the days until our biggest event of the year, Spark: Gathering Around Camp Fire!
Camp Fire youth are working on their performances, revolutionizing the radio waves, exercising their creativity with photos, and are getting ready to host an evening of fun! We are looking forward to seeing their sparks shine bright on Friday, April 14th at The Sentinel! Here are a few exciting updates for #Spark2017.
Spark Presenting Sponsor: The Standard
We’re pleased to announce that longtime community partner, The Standard, is our Presenting Sponsor at Spark this year! The Standard has been a supporter of Camp Fire since 1999, and we are proud that our work aligns well with shared values around equity and education for all children.
“At The Standard, we help people achieve financial well-being and peace of mind. For more than 110 years, our company and our employees have supported the communities where we live and work. Camp Fire Columbia promises to help young people find their spark, lift their voices and discover themselves. These are just some of the many reasons we are proud to sponsor SPARK: Gathering Around Camp Fire.” – Bob Speltz, Senior Director, Public Affairs at The Standard
We are so grateful for The Standard’s continuing support and their work in our communities.
Camp Fire On The Radio!
You’ll be able to get the inside scoop from some of the youth helping to make Spark come to life as they take on the radio airwaves! Camp Fire will be featured on Portland Radio Project’s Community Voices program for the week of March 27th. You can listen in online via PRP.fm or 99.1 on your radio, starting Monday morning at 9:40am. You’ll hear from our youth emcee Peyton, Spark youth photographer Emanuel, and Camp Fire staff and board members on our work and all things #Spark2017 related. Tune in!
Youth Artists Further Ignite Photography Sparks
You may have also heard that Portland’s Artist Laureate Julie Keefe is working with Camp Fire kids on a youth photo project for Spark. Julie’s history in the Portland area includes her work as a photographer, photojournalist and artist in residence working with schools, nonprofits, and local media. Her experience and creative eye are sure to further inspire the Camp Fire youth who are interested in photography. Selected photos will be included in our silent auction. We can’t wait to see how the world looks through the eyes (and camera lenses) of Camp Fire youth!
At Spark, we will also have some fantastic auction packages available: including some incredible must-see and must-do travel package adventures, exciting food and beverage experiences, and more! Get your bid cards ready to support our work and the youth of Camp Fire!
It’s not too late to get your tickets, or contact us to be a sponsor. Contact Crystal Froembling via email or by phone (971) 340-1600 for more information. Share the event with friends! Spark is sure to be an inspiring Friday night to gather round!
