About Kayla

Originally from Chicago, Kayla moved to Portland earlier this year. She has worked through a nationwide non profit at a residential facility providing care and mentorship to immigrant youth of all ages from all over the world for over two years.
She is a first generation person of Mexican descent, and therefore grew to be passionate about working with immigrants to prosper in different aspects. She also recognizes that exploring cultures is vital knowledge to help one another grow. She believes with proper guidance and support, each child is capable of succeeding in their own ways.
In her spare time, Kayla enjoys yoga, rock climbing, and playing soccer. She also likes to play guitar, sing songs, write poetry and occasionally perform.
She is very excited to join Camp Fire’s development team to guide and support Portland’s youth!
