About Namanu Day Camp in the City:

At Namanu Day Camp, we know it is important to keep children’s minds sharp over the summer so they can continue to thrive upon their return to school. Namanu Day Camp in the City is intentionally designed to combat summer learning loss so youth return to school ready to learn! Our Day Camp’s day-to-day activities will engage youth in hands-on learning, while keeping all the fun and silliness you’ve come to expect from our traditional summer camp, Camp Namanu. Campers will have the chance to practice important skills while doing fun activities like using math during cooking and science projects, practicing reading skills on a daily basis, and writing all about their amazing adventures and discoveries.

Each week of Namanu Day Camp will take campers on a unique journey into the world of a CLASSIC CHILDREN’S STORY. Together we will bring aspects of these stories to life through hands-on, age appropriate activities. We will explore and apply real-life lessons through community engagement with on-site special guests, workshops, and community service projects.

Please Note: Some subjects in these classic tales are not age appropriate for all of our campers, and we will leave out unsuitable topics. We will supplement the primary story with others that are suitable for each age group.

Namanu Day Camp in the City will give your child a chance to make new friends, have new and fun experiences, and enjoy all-day field trips to Camp Namanu in Sandy, Oregon. Campers will also take all-day trips to Blue Lake Park and other exciting destinations (see Sessions and Themes), as well as small group field trips connected to the weekly themes. For exact dates of Namanu visits, please see the Session Descriptions for your camp location.

“This was a great week. Thank you for offering an overnight option for our day campers. This option is a great way to introduce an overnight camp to campers who are more nervous about being away from home and we are so proud of our daughter for being willing to try this.” – Namanu Day Camp Parent
