Leadership Programs at Camp Namanu
The Gears Program | Grades 9-12
7/5 to 7/17, 7/19 to 7/31 or 8/2 to 8/14 – $445 Gears return home between sessions (Saturdays) except 7/19 to 7/31.
New this year! Gears is open all highschoolers wanting to gain leadership and give back to Namanu. Follow the online registration process to register for Gears.
This program is for campers who want to get more involved in Namanu. Campers will have a chance to do projects throughout camp to give back. Over the spring each Gears group will vote regarding projects and brainstorm others that they wish to work on. This leadership program will allow the group to bond, explore their leadership style, and add to the magic that is Camp Namanu.
“Many, many thanks to staff, counselors, CITs and fellow campers who participated in weeks 5 and 6. Our son, Steven, had an outstanding time…” - Parent of Namanu Gears Camper

Camp Namanu’s 2-year Counselor in Training (CIT) program transitions youth from campers to potential staff members. CITs follow a dynamic leadership curriculum designed to teach them about child development, behavior management, communication, decision-making and leadership. These young leaders receive mentoring, weekly evaluations, gain real-life, meaningful experiences, and are empowered to make and live by their own good decisions.
CIT 1 applicants must be 15 – 18 years old and entering the 11th or 12th grade in the fall of 2015.
The Counselor In Training 2 (CIT2) Program | Grade 12
7-5 to 7/31 – $890
CIT 2 participants have already completed CIT 1 and are invited to attend the second year of the program. Namanu’s CIT program is competitive and requires an application, references, and an interview.
