2016 Resident Camp Registration Now Open!

About us

Camp Namanu works to provide an inclusive and youth-led experience for all its campers. By living and working together in a community, campers gain skills to care for the world around them. Activities that get youth outside of their comfort zones inspire them to become confident and engaged leaders.

At Namanu, campers live in cabins with youth of the same gender and age group. Counselors stay in the same cabins as our younger campers (7th grade and below) to provide supervision and safety. For older campers, a counselor sleeps near the cabin to encourage independence and responsibility.

All sessions offer age-appropriate activities that may include cookouts, hiking, swimming, boating, arts & crafts, exploring nature, stargazing, and singing. As kids grow up at Namanu, new programs become available to them, such as archery, overnight hikes, and high ropes challenge courses. Youth can also create their own unique session by choosing specific activities with their cabin group.

Each grade level outlined below has its own geographically centered unit. From the modern, comfortable, and enclosed cabins of Blue Wing to the rustic and picturesque open-air tree houses of Balagan, each unit space offers an exceptional outdoor experience.

Session & Unit Descriptions

bracketUnit assignments are based on the camper’s grade for next school year, 2016-2017. Each week of camp throughout the summer has been assigned a session number (Session 1, Session 2, etc.). A calendar guide to these numbers can be found here. Mini sessions are for our youngest campers, and are two days and one night at camp. Half sessions are four days and three nights at camp. Full sessions are seven days and six nights, with drop-offs happening on Sunday and pick-ups on Saturday. Extended sessions (offered for grades seven and up) are 11 days, 10 nights.
