Xploregon Teen Leadership Program

Get more information about registering for Xploregon this summer here.

Xploregon Teen Leadership Program guides youth on a series of 12-day road trips that take youth out of the classroom to experience the world first hand through adventure, leadership, and service. Xploregon helps schools fill the summer learning gap and offers students a balance between classroom instruction during the school year and experiential learning during the summer.

As much of a journey of oneself as it is of Oregon’s jaw-dropping terrain, Xploregon challenges teens to leave their comfort zones, confront their fears, grow through leadership and teamwork, and become exposed to eye-opening places, people, and activities. Throughout, youth partner with leading community-based organizations on service projects that create direct, positive impact on their community and fellow Oregonians. Youth are challenged on a daily basis through fresh hands-on learning while engaging in reflection and self-discovery in a caring, inclusive, and safe group culture.

Xploregon serves as a vital summer program for high school youth. It is particularly impactful for youth making the transition from 8th to 9th grade, that all-important year which research identifies as being crucial to a successful path through high school. Xploregon participants demonstrate increases in:

  • Motivation
  • Confidence
  • Goal-setting
  • Social and environmental awareness
  • Compassion for others
